The above can be found in the right angle corner of the yard wall at the above historic house. No photo but can anyone who has seen it tell me what it's purpose is?

Could it simply be a pattress plate (a.k.a.anchor plate), used to retain a bulging wall? They come in lots of shapes and sizes, with this just being one example:

No it was in a right internal angle wall joint with a 45° slope towards the ground with deep ridges.
