If I rent a house, and sub-let two rooms to strangers (not family members)... where do I stand with regards to tv licence?
Can we have one between us that we all contribute to (in one name? Joint names?) or do we have to have one each?
I'm basing my question on the assumption that there'd be a communal tv downstairs plus one in each bedroom.
Thanks x

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.if you are going to be sharing a house, a seperate tenancy agreement would normally mean each occupied room is classified as a seperate place. in this case, if you had a tv in each room you would need one licence each. if there is only one t.v. in a communal area, then only one licence is required. if your house can be treated as one place shared by all then only one t.v. licence is required.
