Worn Out From Chasing People!

Yesterday i had a craft stall at a Christmas fair.
THREE people left their purses/wallets on the table and i had to chase them to return them. One woman was due change from a £20 note. I gave her some coins then turned away to go into my note stash for a £10 note she was due. When I looked up she had gone and I ended up leaving the venue and chasing her down the street to give her the tenner.
One man bought a purse I had made. I turned away to get his change and then gave it to him. Just after he left I noticed that all the remaining purses on my table had vanished. I again ended up leaving the venue and chasing him down the street. He denied stealing them so I grabbed his shopping bag off him and lo and behold there were the missing purses. I look them back, had a harsh word or two with him.....I may have used several words unsuitable for a lady like me to use....and them dropped his shopping bag in a puddle.
I was worn out with it all.

My purse is attached to my bag by a long, strong chain......and what do you do about thieves.....happens to us at our bargain grocery sales....we have to have sort of stall detectives mingle with the customers....such a shame...x

Zacs, i used to do loads of craft fairs but now only do one a year. The one I do is very very good and i do very well there. It is at a place called Botton if you have ever heard of it.
BTW did your friend ever get back the missing piece of jewellery?

Well done catching him Mrs O although you could have come off worse - but it is just an instant reaction isn't it I think that I would have done the same - on automatic pilot.

Where was the craft fair Zacs-master? are you local

Mrs O, no she didn't get it back. Worth about £15k I believe. Gulp.

GG, it was in the back of the town hall. No I'm not local. We were staying in a cottage just above Sutton in Craven.

Mrs O, no I don't think I've ever been to Botton although I know Lealholme and Farndale v well (I have ancestors from Farndale).

In fact my GGG Grandfather used to run the Lion at Blakey Ridge.

I love the Lion at Blakey and we go there for a meal a few times a year

Yes, £15k (minimum) very rare green Tanzanite (mine now closed). Never had a meal at Lion but always fancied getting snowed in there over Christmas. V nice pub in Egton Bridge (the one with the big beer garden in front).

Zacs, at the top of the hill the village is called Egton and has a pub called the Horse Shoe. At the bottom of the hill the village name changes to Egton Bridge and one of the pubs there is also called the Horseshoe. This is the one you mean. It is known locally as the bottom Horseshoe

I once ran a charity bazaar and a very prominent member of the town offered to help on the bric a brac stall, as he did for many of the town's charity events......an old chap who limped badly and used a walking stick...always in the local newspaper spouting his good works.....

It seemed odd that he arrived with a suitcase...made me suspicious.....so after a little while one of our members grabbed the case and told him she was putting it in the kitchen for safety....he was furious..

The sight of our well known local doctor being chased through the church hall by an equally well known and now fully mobile "charity" worker waving a stick was memorable...

I had to block the kitchen door while she opened the case.....it was full of bric a brac from our stall.....and he swore he was taking it home to value it for us........☻

Can't beat yours or Gness's stories, but yesterday someone left their crutch at work, propped up against a side stack near the tills. No idea whose it is as I didn't notice it till we had a lull. This was at 8 in the morning and by 4 when I left it was still there.

How much do you really need a crutch if you a) leave it in the first place and b) don't return for it immediately?

I know....when he phoned me to offer his help he said we would really benefit ......all local charities wanted him to help.... because he had "a following"......
So did Fagin....and I did contact other charities to tell what he had done...

Boo, call me cynical, but I am sure that most of the people I know who use a crutch/walking stick don' actually need them

Believe it or not, Boo.....I had a neighbour who used crutches to suit because it got her attention.....the aisle seat in the cinema....table of her choice in a restaurant....thrived on it she did...

what I noticed where I live when the DSS announced they were cracking down on bogus disability claimants, half the town suddenly appeared with sticks and arm crutches that I had never seem them use before !
