i know this dosent answer your question, but why buy one if you dont know what it does?

 

i would imagine you spear the potato and then i rotates round with a blade applied to it?

Which type have you bought? The one you hold in your hand or the one where you shove loads of potatoes into it?

Potatoes rotate in a drum lined a with rough surface. So it's like the peel is removed with sandpaper.
