Does anyone here do it?

If so, what do you play? Poker (T-holdem, 5 card), slots, blackjack, roulette, etc.

Mathematics dictates that the punter can never win in the long run on anything you've suggested there (other, possibly, than poker), so I'd never try any of them.

If I ever get tempted to bet over the internet it will be on something where there's at least a chance of making a long-term profit through skill, such as horse-racing.
Never seen the point of gambling. Should imagine that doing it on the internet is somewhat joyless.

Chris: I agree to an extent. I understand the mathematical factor but the problem that causes all the heartache and debts is due to greed. Even if someone manages to win thousands for years they will eventually throw it all away.
I can get addicted to things far too easily.

;-)
Used to play poker quite a lot, don't bother much anymore.
Still bet on the horses of course.

CHRIS!!! No stop it. You're going to get me obsessed with tetris again. Ouuuww :(
I wonder who plays the endless bingo games that are the stuff of every ad break.
Seems to be almost as popular as blaming and claiming.

methyl: I have played Holdem online in the past and they were real people. I didn't spend a lot of money but it was interesting because I could talk to them. It is so much easier in 'real life' because you have at least a fighting chance of seeing if someone is bluffing.
Don't forget bridge, a mixture of luck and skill, and, unless your luck is very bad, it will always be outweighed by skill.
Got involved with Victor for a while, got burnt. Now little punts with Paddy Power and the UK lottery
Texas Holden on Zynga via facebook ... no money in it though, just a laugh

methyl: Yeah I know. I wasn't insinuating that I wanted to start gambling online, I was just interested in how many people play online for money.

When I was younger and when the WWW was less protected it was very easy to make money without lifting a finger. Affiliated banners was a surefire way of making a lot of money.
I've never fancied being a gambler, certainly not on p.c..

When Google Affiliate first started they didn't do their homework. You could put a banner on your website and get paid for each click. You could just click the banner yourself.

Once went gambling with the Private Eye lot (publicising around the universities). They staked me, I won. Last time ever apart from a couple of bets on the National. I won. Gave up, too good to be true.

I've made a nice tidy sum on scratch cards online in the past. I just didn't allow myself to become too greedy. Used to play £5 cards which were flawed. Every 2-3 cards you'd win 25-30. I got it up to 290 and withdrew my funds. They soon removed the £5 monopoly cards for a while.
