Ebay Ending Auction

I've listed an item on ebay for £500. There's 5 days remaining on it and I've noticed I've made an error. I want to end listing early.

Nobody is yet to bid on it. I assume I won't be charged any fees if I end whilst it has no bids. Is this correct??

You will just be charged for the listing fee which will just be a few pence.

eBay guidance says

If you end an auction early and buyers have already placed bids, you may be charged a fee. This fee is the same as a final value fee, based on the item price when you ended the auction. You won't pay a fee if you cancel your auction within the first 24 hours of listing your item, or if we have to end your auction.

boxtops its no good quoting Ebay if you have no idea between the listing fee and the final value fee. You are charged a fee to LIST the item on Ebay -its usually between 10p and 30p depending on the value of the item, though some people will have a quota of free listings. The listing fee is a one off fee and if you end the item early you do not get this fee back. When you sell your item you are charged a FINAL VALUE fee which is based on the price achieved at auction or your 'buy it now' price -this fee is automatically taken off and charged on a monthly basis. You can get this fee refunded under certain circumstances, if you refund the buyer for example or if the buyer does not pay. As the OP has not sold his item he will not incurr a final value fee, just a listing fee and this will not be refunded.

You don't get your insertion (listing) fee back if you close it early.

It's your choice BobbyBobBob. If your error is a serious one e.g. it's not the correct model number, or found it doesn't actually work, when you've said it does work, then you can either add the correction (very clearly) by revising the description, or you can end the auction early and relist it with the correct description. If you've paid a listing fee, then that's gone.
If someone has made a bid, you can add to the description but advise those bidders to contact you if they wish to withdraw their bid in the light of the new information. Not in ideal scenario. Best probably to just end early, the bidder might be put out, but you won't be charged an extra fee; just a possible listing fee again. Good luck with what you decide.
