mobile phone use in USA
I'm going to visit friends in New York and want to use my samsung D500 to make local calls over there. I have a contract with Vodafone. Can I unlock my phone and get a pay-as-you-go sim card over there to make these calls? If not, what do I need to do?
Thanks
John

Again - really sorry and I hope someone much more technologically minded than me (ie a 2 year old!) can respond to your question.
Shivvy - can't answer all your questions as I don't own the phone, but will try a few...
Regarding the issue about makling the phone ring for longer, Andytuk was right, max is 30 seconds. You can do it his way (yes, divert the call to your own number - this means that you'll be diverting it to answerphone after 30 secs). On some phones you can simply type in a code: **61*[type in answerphone number]*11*30# (where [type in answerphone number] means type in your own number.
As for MP3s as ringtones/alarm sounds, as far as I can establish, it is possible - play around with it some more - try hooking it up to a computer if you can - then you might be able to have a look around inside it?
Most phones don't like playing MP3s as ringtones and so will only play .wav files. You could try converting part of the MP3 you want into a .wav file, and then copying it to the appropriate place in your phone (however this would require you to use a computer probably?
Sorry I couldn't be any more help - If I can find someone I know with one of these phones, I'll have a play and get back you with any answers!!
