brand new so just getting used to it and i am not technically minded so we struggled to set up voicemail retrieval but now we have realised that there is a charge to listen to them, (new account) we now want to stop phone going to voicemail if i dont answer it but dont know how, so any help will be appreciated

If you go to the view with all the widgets, then select 'settings', something in there will have the option to switch off voicemail.

Since voicemail is a service provided by your phone company (Vodafore, EE, etc), rather than directly by your phone, you might need to call a particular number to disable it. e.g. with Vodafone you simply call 1210.
