Converting An Audacity File Into Mp3

I have edited a music track via Audacity I now want to convert that project file into a MP3 file, could anyone please tell me how this can be done.

Can you not simply save or export it to that format ?

file/export, then drop down the file type to mp3

Due to patent restrictions, Audacity can't save/export files into Mp3 format in its 'off the shelf' native format. However you simply need to add on the third-party LAME encoder and you can then achieve your goal easily.
