My Ears Keep Popping...
4 Answers
...When I'm driving. This has started happening intermittently for about the last couple of weeks, resulting in the loss of my hearing for a few hours. I have a severe hearing problem in both ears and wear 2 behind the ear hearing aids, obviously, the hearing loss is only noted when I've got them in. It's my usual trip home/to work, which is approx. 20 miles from where I work along country routes as well as dual carriageway, but as I say this has only started to happen. It's much the same as when it happens on a flight, but seems harder to 'unpop' doing the usual things, I usually find it stays like this until I go to bed and then it's fine next morn. My concern is I have an 8 hour flight next month, and I'm wondering if it will be somewhat worse in this instance, also I would not like to 'lose' the ability to hear with my hearing aids anymore than I do already as I'll need to communicate on the plane. Could I possibly need an ear syringe? I've never had problems like this before.

From what you describe, it sounds as though it may be wax, but if you have had a cold, then it could be a Eustachian tube problem.
This does need sorting, so i would make an appt to see your GP.

No, I shouldn't think that it will affect your flight depending on you seeking treatment and a diagnosis.
