Why does a Dyson lose it's suction??

My Dyson DC07 was brilliant when I first bought it.  I couldn't believe the suction.  However, it's not even a year old now and the suction is very poor, both from the main body and the hose.  The machine is clean and dust free.  Nothing seems broken or worn.  What can I do about it???

If its not a year old yet then the Dyson should do something about it is there a number or address that you got with it? or take it back to the place you bought it?

are you SURE that you haven't got a blockage anywhere and does the beater bar rotate? Have you changed/ washed both filters?

Sorry, I meant to say it's two years old.  Too old for the warranty but not old enough to be wearing down already!

uhh...I'm not dumb...but what filters?  Are you talking about the cylinder?  If so, yes, it's been washed and the beater bar rotates.

i had this problem with mine, if its the same model (with a cylinder both sides) take off the dust collection cylinder and behind it you will see a small torx (star shaped screw) if you undo this then the top half of the anti bacterial cylinder on the other side will come off - there is a little rubber gasket to keep it sealed, this may have been dislodged or split, it would need either replacing or fitting back properly.

There was a discussion about Dysons a while back, you can probably find it .... the bottom line was that an awful lot of us who used to have one now do not have one and would not buy another one for many different reasons !!!

My Dyson DC07 has lost suction and began to overheat and cut out. This happened a while back and it cost me �30 to get repaired. The guy in the shop said he would never recommend a Dyson because they are always going wrong. 6 months on and it's happening again. I notice someone on eBay selling info on how to fix this problem. I can't decide whether to try that or just cut my losses and buy a new cleaner (non-Dyson).
