Lost Passport

A family member has had her passport lost whilst it was in the possession of the Passport Office in Glasgow, the envelope apparently only contained (according to the Office) her certificates and money. They took the payment and just did nothing about it until she phoned up to find out where it had got to. They told her she had not put the old passport in the envelope, but the certificates and cheque was inside the passport - therefore the whole thing must have been received by them at the beginning. She has had to fill in a Lost or Stolen form, and notify the police, fill in another passport application and send that together with more photos.

Has anyone else had a passport lost whilst in the process of renewal at the Glasgow Passport Office?

Not a lost passport but when I renewed I forgot to enclose payment. I had a letter from them within a few days with a payment form so I'm surprised they didn't write if your friend hadn't sent her old passport.
