Solitaire

When I play Solitaire on my phone it allows me to take cards back off the final pile and put them back on a black/red column and take the game in a different direction.
Is this allowed in the original card game, or is it a glitch?

That's allowed in some form of Solitaire. There are many different versions.

I believe that is one of the options settings. In true patience, you cannot.
