If I buy a 220 volt drill, will this work off a domestic 240V power supply or would you need some sort of transformer ?

Thanks all
It's just 8% ish. Uk voltage is now supposed to be 230 +10% -6%. Used to be 240, Europe used to be 220. Now both should conform to be in tolerance of 230v without issue.
about 20% more power, its a square function
The drill will only do the same power as its original rating or it would burn out. The higher voltage will means it will be running faster both at no load and at the rated power.

The power is controlled by how heavily the drill is loaded. The more it is slowed from its no load speed, the more current it will draw and the more heat will be dissipated from its windings.
