Major discussion in our local last night concerning the lack of hot running water in the Gents toilets, does this contravene any law or health/safety issues?
Can the local council warn the pub or close it down as its been more than a year like this?

No, the water doesn't have to be hot.
A pub with hot water ? Wow, posh.

I understood that the pub had to have hot water in the Gents for hygiene purposes, must have got that wrong then!
I would say no also. I've been in many a toilet that has only had cold water.
The toilets in our local shopping centre were renovated recently, and only cold water is now supplied there.
For water to sterilise, it would have to be so hot that it would scald your hands.
More important would be an anti-bacterial hand-wash.
A much more important issue is the scarcity of public toilets available these days. As a diabetic chap of a certain age, this is now becoming a real problem for me.

Local councils don't seem to have the cash to keep toilets open these, so thank God for the proliferating Supermarkets !
McDonalds, Burger King, etc..... all ... erm ... convenient.
And pubs....I've worked in many and never have we refused someone using the toilets.
Our local KFC was just fined £100,000 for not having hot water. Bit different, I know, but what a swingeing fine.
I wrote to a town council to complain that there was no hot water or soap provided in their public toilets. They simply said they don’t provide either. Mmmm … I knew that!
Hot water, "Claims" does that make a connection?
