Ps To Question About Failure Of Copy...

Does anyone know how this works? I want to buy an annual travelcard pass for zones 1-4. Formerly you would be issued a paper pass to accompany your photocard. I now would like to get this but actually on my oystercard. A friend has told me this would not be possible, because the mainline rail stations mostly do not recognise oyster! Is this true?
Basically I would want to use tube, train, bus, dlr etc. - after all that is what a travelcard is, and what I would be paying for.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, as I have trawled the oystercard/tfl websites, and it really does not seem to be clear how it would all work.
Thanks very much!

If oyster can only be used on some mainline stations, then an annual travel card on oyster is NOT a travel card, is it?! So should I just stick to the paper one for now??
Thanks again!
