Search Engines

Why is it that Internet search engines totally ignore requests to search UK ONLY. And why does windows ask a question when opening a file like 'You have two similar files, Do you want to merge the changes? YES/NO and Don't Ask Again' and despite clicking Don't Ask Again, the same question comes up every time you open the file?

I get your point about the search engines but I wish there was a way to search UK sites only because many of the US ones are so intrusive with their special offers and 'you have won a prize' etc.after which I have to remove all the spyware.

I do have Google as my home page and do use the search UK only but as you say, many others still get through. I understand OBonio's explanation as there is no way of knowing where the sites originate. I used to have a .com email address and got an enormous amount of junk mail from the USA with special offers available only to US residents. Since I changed to a .co.uk address, I get hardly any. I suppose theirin lies the answer. It would be better all round if both email addresses and websites were to have their country of origin in the address then we would all be aware.
