A Gness-Like Problem

Right. I had to drive to Clifton Park Hospital York, today, to have unpleasant steroid injections into my left wrist. He was running late so I stopped-off at Tesco's for a sandwich and drink; naturally I wandered upstairs into the 'Sales' clothing dept...................
A while later I had found and tried on some creamy , lace, Capri pants (£6!!!!!). I chucked them into my basket and went on to find a bit of salad, cheese and some tonic.
Cheerful blonde 'bimbo' on checkout and I chatted away to her. Paid on my debit card, invoice collected on way out of the store - checked it, all OK, so ripped-up and dumped till receipt.
SNAG! I got home, showed off said item of clothing to OH and then realised that the security tag was still attached - she'd removed all the price and 'sale' labels.
OH has tried for a few hours to remove said tag - any ideas anyone? Who will believe me if I turn up at a Tesco's without an invoice and asking for help? Help!!

That happened to me a couple of years ago, Togo. I bought, inter alia, a bottle of gin and decided to use the self-service checkout. It summoned the supervisor to authorise the sale, which she duly did, but the silly moo forgot to take the tag off. I didn't notice at the time. No alarm went off when I left the shop. Imagine my chagrin when I got home ready for a large G&T, only to find I couldn't get into the bottle. I nearly cried. I had to traipse all the way back to the shop. Fortunately I still had the receipt.
Hi Jourdain,
That happened to me in January. I brought a jacket from Matalan to wear at my niece's graduation in Hull (I live on The Wirral). On the morning of her graduation I put the jacket on and wondered why it wasn't sitting right, then saw the security tag. I was sharing a room with my sister so she suggested a strong magnet might work. We went down to breakfast (had to be at Guild Hall for 09.30) and asked if the Travel Lodge had a magnet, which they did (needless to say it didn't work). I decided that since the tag was close to the side seam if I kept my arms down by my sides you wouldn't be able to see it.
We had to park in a car park attached to the shopping centre in Hull and as we were walking through the shopping centre I had a brainwave. My sister, niece and her boyfriend went ahead for the graduation and I made a detour into Dorethy Perkins. I explained what had happened (my accent probably told them I wasn't local), and they very kindly removed the tag for me.
I made it in time to see my niece graduate, and was able to applaud her and all the other graduees (if that's a proper word) without embarrassing the whole family.
You have nothing to lose by going into a shop nearer to home, explaining what happened and asking if they could help. That is of course if your OH hasn't managed to remove the tag.
Good Luck.

This happened to my daughter at our local Tesco. She paid for a dress at the self service till and didn't think to ask for the tag to be removed. Strangely the alarm did not go off on her way out but it did go off when she went back the next day to explain the situation and she was immediately confronted by the security guard. Luckily, he found it rather amusing when she explained her predicament.
