Internet Explorer
Hi, hopefully someone may be able to help me with this one (in non techno advice please lol).
My PC Win 8.1 with "classic start" Win 7 < that was put on because I was used to Win 7. I have Internet Explorer 11. Antivirus is AVG 13 (which I pay for on renewal).
Having lots of problems with IE. Coming up with "Internet Explorer not responding" so can't do anything with it, I have to close from Task Manager. I read on Google, add-ons may be causing the problem, so I just removed BING and had Google as my default search provider. I didn't know what else to do with any of the other things in that window (techno phobe here) and after I removed Bing it seemed to be ok, working quicker and was behaving correctly. Unfortunately that hasn't lasted and the "not responding" message is making IE virtually unusable so I cannot do anything in it now.
Is it possible someone can explain things a bit more about this please and is it easy to fix for someone like me? Thanks in advance for your help.

As TheChair suggests, the most likely cause of 'not responding' problems with browsers is a fault with the updating function of your antivirus software.
If you have to use AVG, I suggest uninstalling it completely, restarting your computer and then reinstalling it. (You might need to use AVG Remover to effectively uninstall AVG: https:/ /suppor t.avg.c om/Supp ortArti cleView ?l=en_U S&u rlName= How-to- uninsta ll-AVG ).
I used to love AVG but I chose to ditch it precisely because of the type of problems which you're currently experiencing. (Microsoft's own products are at least as bad). I now use Avast instead, without any problems.
IE is, and always has been, a total joke. Get yourself a decent browser! (My own choice is Firefox. Avant is just as good and, if you don't mind Google trying to take over everything you do, Chrome is worth considering).
