Can't believe what I did last night.

I came out this morning to find my rear car door open after getting something out of it last night around 7pm.

Came out this morning about 9am and realized it must have been open all night from 7pm till 9am this morning. When I say open I mean wide open not just unlocked.

I feel so stupid but really lucky the car and everything is still inside, it was parked on my driveway not in the street but the car can easily be seen by anyone going by.

Yes you were lucky, but we've all done silly things when distracted - glad the outcome was good.x
sillie millie indeed, but if we're honest we have all had funny moments.
I once left my house keys in the front door all night!
SM - I once went away with Mr BM, leaving his car on the drive. It was notoriously bad for taking in water when it rained and shortly before we left (about 10am) he had opened the passenger door to let it dry out. It was only after travelling 200 miles, putting up a tent in the rain and decamping to the nearest pub I asked him if he had sorted the car out (by this point it was about 10pm). Twit features suddenly remembered the door was STILL open. I had to walk to the nearest mobile phone signal and phone a friend to go and close the door.

Not as bad as my sister though. She once shared a house with 5 friends and they all cleared off skiing. It was only at the airport they figured out they had left the front door wide open and the keys in it. They had to call the local police station to get them to secure the house.
^ We went on a weeks holiday and when we got back we found the front door had been open for the whole week!
Lol Eddie - I took Mr BM to the garage earlier to collect his car and discovered he had not locked the door on the way out (he had the keys). I was horrified and it was only unlocked for 20 mins. A week would have given me palpitations!!!!

Smow, I did that too a couple of years ago, the Postman knocked and asked me did I know. Can't do that now as new door has to be locked with the key from the inside at night.
^ We had no idea it was unlocked until we got back and found it still open!
It had a fault at the time, you had to pull it really hard to make sure it was shut and the latch had clicked into place. We went off on holiday and just forgot the check it was latched closed!
We were on duty at Saul Junction when we still did the festivals. We left at 7AM, got back home at 11PM to find we'd left the front door wide open all day. Nothing was missing or had been touched.

Many years later, I went away for the weekend and left the front door open again. A neighbour got the police to attend while she locked it with the spare key.

It's easily done.
I used to be dreadful for leaving the balcony door open on hot summer nights - fortunately the only intruders I ever discovered were either ducks or geese.
God what a lot we are!!
Smow, I havent told you mine.......

THis was when I drove home one day and called round the shop. Then as I was approaching the house, I thought "where the **** is my car". Panic ensued. It then occurred to me that I had parked the car at the shop and walked home. Dimwit.
I once went shopping and left my front door open. When I returned home I was frightened to go in quite convinced I had burglars.
Many years ago before I was married and living with my parents I was giving my car it's customary Saturday lunch time wash, wax and vac ( ready for Saturday night ), went into the house to get moms vac leaving the passenger side door open with the seat folded forward ( two door car, Ford Capri ) so that I could vac the rear footwells first. Whilst in the house something got my attention which kept me in the house for around half an hour, when I returned to my car ready to vac it out I found a very small Grey and White kitten curled up asleep in the passenger side rear footwell.
Mom went around all of the neighbours asking if they knew who the kitten belonged to, no one knew who it belonged to so mom adopted him. Geoffrey
had a good life and lived to be eighteen years old.
Geoffrey, tony? At least he didn't boycott your family.....
I once drove an ancient Renault 12 Estate. To counteract the rust I painted it all over in silver hammerite. (I thought it looked quite quaint and fetching.) One Saturday I parked in the main Halifax carpark to do my Saturday shopping. When I returned the keys were still on the bonnet where I had inadvertently left them. :(
I once had a car that was still insured and taxed but was so rusty the chassis was in danger of failing. I could not sell it , so I left it in the main town car park with the keys in it. I was hoping it would be stolen so I could claim off the insurance . I left it a week and it was not touched. I was forced to take it to the scrap yard who gave me £5 for it. Stupid I know, but this was over 40 years ago now .
I had another car that was so rusty , one morning I came out to find the drivers door had fallen off in the night and was lying on the road beside the car!
Omg Barmaid I've done the exact same thing!!
