Toch Electric Light

,I think I have asked this question before ,I have a Touch light ,the type where you need to touch it to come on and the same to switch it off,the past few weeks it switches on by touch but switches itself off on it's own then on off etc ,apart from throwing it away is there anything I can try to do to rectify this problem,thank you

Old Geezer Is it possible that the microwave could cause this problem this is in fact the 2nd light that has had this problem ,thank you X

No expert. I guess stranger things have happened, but I think touch switches rely on capacitance or inductance changes, so I'd have thought it unlikely. I suppose radiowave interference could affect the switch electonics. Does the problem only occur when the oven is on/in use ?

No it happens all the time ,I did after your message just try moving the light which I have done ,the same thing is happening but not so frequently,does the type of bulb have any thing to do with this do you think ? thank you for your help I am very grateful for any input .christopher Mr Mo

Most unlikely IMO.
Probably just developed a fault.

Unfortunately it is an indication that your lamp is reaching the end of its' life.
I managed to have my bedside lamps rewired with on/off switches but have had to throw out smaller touch lamps.
I'm not sure why it happens but it is a very common problem with old touch lamps.
