Staples For Rexel 2001 Carpet Stapler
2 Answers
I've had the above stapler in my toolbox for quite a few years and I'm now finding I need replacement staples for it. The designation of the staples are Rexel 2001/6 and Rexel 2001/8 which means that the "legs" of the staples are 6mm and 8mm long respectively.
What the spare staples box doesn't tell me is the wire gauge of the staples. This seems to be crucial as the part of the stapler that punches the staple in won't do the job if the staple is too thick/wide. That's why I need the wire gauge. If I could measure the gauge, I don't know if it would be an American or UK gauge.
I've looked at so-called "thin" 6mm and 8mm generic staples but I'm trying to find some sort of compatibility table on the internet to check if they'll work before I cough up any cash. There is the odd pack of original staples available from sellers on Ebay but the packs look ancient with no mention of potential rust. I'd prefer to buy something new that I know will work.
All advice greatly appreciated.

Looking at the staple specification, they don’t seem to quote the staple material width – which is critical to each stapler model.
If you have a Screwfix nearby, call in and ask to look at the staples within packs they sell, almost certainly one will be suitable (there are only so many standard staple material widths).
