How seriously should we treat this ?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2017/04/20/diet-fizzy-drinks-linked-dementia-stroke/

It does say in the article that -

//The nature of the study means they cannot prove a causal link between diet drinks and dementia, but previous research has shown that artificial sweeteners can damage blood vessels.//

So they are saying it's likely , but cant be proved

Never mind about fizzy drinks, I'm going to carry on hoping any link is minor or non-causal as I use sweetener in teas & coffees etc..

my mother never touched fizzy drinks in her life but has dementia, admittedly she is only one, but they keep on coming up with these theories between what we eat and drink, i wonder if there is anything we can consume without it being linked to cancer, dementia or other.

I actively avoid aspartame though - drinks containing it seem to increase my thirst rather than quench it - which may be what the manufacturers want ....
I don't like diet drinks.
I have been drinking gin and tonic for 50 years and can categorically state that in no way am I in the slightest suffering from flobadoodle, giggle dementia. Nurse, the screens!
Why don't they just say eating and drinking is bad for your health?
Red Meat, cheese, sugar, artificial sweetener, toast, eggs, milk, sausages, bacon, burgers, ham, wine, beer, all spirits and many more, is there ANYTHING AT ALL that is safe to eat and drink?
Everything is ok in moderation.

I have never had a diet drink in my life but I still forgot to take my car in for the seat belt recall yesterday!
Do we think that no-one's getting out of this alive so crack on with a bit of what you fancy?

I do. :)
