Calculating electricity costs

Basically i was just woundering how i would work out how much it costs to run our dish washing machiene,  ive just moved in to a flat, i dont know what it costs per unit of elcetricity, i think were with man web.  Basically when the dishwasher is ran it runs for 2 hours, now i see this as a complete waste of money and think that all washing up should be done by hand.  Basically i want to know how much it costs to run it for 2 hours.

Bit difficult this as it will depend on the temperature of the water supplied to the machine, if the water is cold the machine will use more power heating the water and visa-versa.  You can estimate from the machine data plate which will show the maximum power the machine will use. if it is for example 3kw then the machine will use 3 units per hour and  6 units in two hour etc...

With our Bosch Dishwasher we got the following info

intensive cycle, 115 min, 1.7kWh, 21litres

Normal Cycle, 106min, 1.45kWh, 18litres

Eco Cycle, 140min, 1.05kWh,14 litres

Gentle Cycle, 75min, 0.9kWh, 15 litres

Quick, 30min, 0.7kWh, 10 litres

Your supplier should tell you how much they charge you for a kWh on your bill but after googling it, it seems to be about 10p. Therefore a quick wash costs 7p (+13p for the tablet, thanks Mr Sainsbury,) and an intensive wash costs 17p + a tablet. Hope this helps,

thanks for all your help, i think i worked it out at about �1.80 in electric costs per week.  (after a lot of googling to find out the spec of the dishwasher)
