Boiler Pressure Help Please
13 Answers
I have a Glow Worm 24cxi combi boiler which is 11 years old. It was losing pressure about a year or so ago so called in a GasSave engineer & he replaced the diverter valve. It has been ok since but just recently have noticed the pressure has been going down again & now it's 0.5 with the red light in the display flashing & no hot water. Under the boiler there's a blue knob & recall him saying to turn it till the pressure increases then turn it back. I wouldn't know what way to turn it, clockwise or anti clockwise & don't want to do the wrong thing & get water gushing out! Can anyone help me please? I would add I've checked all the radiator valves to make sure there's no dampness around them as I believe I am correct in saying a drop in pressure can be due to a leak somewhere. Hope you will be able to help. Thanks

That valve is only to bring the boiler up to pressure and is not connected to you rads. The meter that is showing red should be showing between 1 and 2 bar. There should be a little hose( usually a flexi metal weave clad hose). If it is fitted, turn the valve clockwise with the boiler off, until the gauge rises to about 1.5 bar. If it is not fitted find it(it will be nearby) and fit it to the water main connected to the valve and the boiler inlet. It will not fit to the wrong connections.
Well, I managed to turn the little blue knob underneath & the pressure increased to 1.2 bar pressure. I then turned the blue knob back. Unfortunately it seems I now have an occasional drip from under the boiler somewhere but it is only slight. Think a GasSafe engineer is called for in next few days. At least I now have hot water
