I saw some very powerful ED torches today, that used Cree-type LEDS.

These seemed many times brighter that the usual LED torches that I use.

What level of LUMENS would I need, for a really bright torch, but still small enough to keep in my pocket.

Thanks BB !
Maplin sells a cree torch for £14.99. It produces 65 lumens and uses one AAA battery. It appears to be small enough to fit in your pocket.
Question Author
BB...how would 65 LUMENS compare with an ordinary LED ( non-CREE) torch ?

Its the difference between LEDs and CREE LEDS that I am after.
Depends on your definition of "really bright". I'd suggest trying some out in the shop. A few thousand lumens should do you.
Cree seemed to be a brand name when I performed a web search.
Question Author
Yes, I think it is but CREE seems to be a type of LED that is much, much brighter than ordinary ones. The ones I saw in the shop were very impressive !
I do hope you are not one of those flashers Mikey. (^_*)
