I've lost part of a cycle D lock, not the vertical lockable bar but the curved bit (in the shape of a reversed C). I've also still got the keys of what was a very expensive lock, (extra large size)
Two shops have told me it simply can't be replaced. Is this true? ABUS 51/150 HB

Probably not the sort of thing that a cycle shop would stock, especially as they would want to sell you an entire new lock. Possibly if you contacted the manufacturers directly they may be able to supply the part you need.
