All petrol and diesel pumps have a 'automatic cut off sensor ' fitted to them. This feature stops you from overfilling your car, and you ending up with a mouthfull of gas. The reason why it clicks is because the ANGLE at which you slide the nozzle in, makes the nozzle-end close to the inside of your fuel tank. So when you squeeze the pump, the fuel 'rebounds' off the side of your fuel tank hits the nozzle-end and triggers the click to stop, because the sensor thinks the rebounding splashes equals a full tank. To prevent this, change the angle at which the pump is slid in to the tank, you should be able to find a nice natural angle for the curve in nozzle. When you find this angle you can squeeze the pump to your hearts content and it wont click no more.

do what johnny blaze does...................I had this problem, I just pull the nozzle out a little and the clicking stops.

Cheers Johnny. I'll bear that in mind next time I'm p*ssing people off by filling the tank at 1 litre per minute. Learn something new every day.
