I listed an item on eBay as collection only , it was a chair. A potential buyer asked to come and look at it, so I gave them my address and phone no on eBay messages. Now eBay say I have violated policy by offering a sale outside eBay and have restricted my account. I can't buy , or list an item for 7 days What are you supposed to do in that situation?
Thanks Chris, but I have already been on that site and asked for help from other eBay members.
I should have done what I have done before and send the potential buyer a photo of my phone number . That way they can't see it.
seems a bit ski-whiff that one can post an item for 'collection only' and then they take the huff when the seller, who obviously, has to post contact details, gets suspended for a period of time.
^ I am thinking of Gumtree. I have also put one item on Facebook sales just to see what sort of reaction it gets.
I don't understand eBay's policy. I sold an eBay item and got paid on PayPal , but just because I gave the buyer my address & phone no to arrange to come and pick it up eBay told me I was breaking the policy of sales outside eBay.
I have sold a lot of items on eBay that require collection. I have also had buyers ask to come and see some items. Never been suspended. Can I ask, are you telling the whole story?
I think that the issue is that apart from certain items (cars is one such item) you aren't supposed to give the buyer your details until after the sale has gone through...otherwise yes you put it on ebay, you give people your address, they pop round and buy it, you remove the listing and ebay loses out.
Woofgang, last year I sold a very large tent, the buyer wanted to view as he lived locally and didn't have room to put it up. He came and saw it, he then completed via paypal on his phone and took it away. Never heard a peep from eBay.
