Wifi Light Switch

id like my daughter's bedroom light to be controlled by wifi. I see you can buy light switches fairly cheaply, but how would they be installed? Just a case of swapping?

I think the wall switch needs to be permanently on, when the smart bulb is fitted. That way the bulb's internal controls can switch it on or off. If someone switches the wall switch off, then the smart bulb will (obviously) not switch itself on. If that becomes a problem, then yes, you'd have to disable the wall switch

You can get this kind of bulb:

Looks like it connects to your wifi and can be controlled from an App, Pretty sure it is a simple swap for the regular bulb

I have recently changed my bedroom light switch for a smart switch, enables me to turn the light on and off from anywhere in the house, laid in bed and even when I am in another town ( so it makes it look like someone is at home), all from an app on my phone. I can also ask "alexa" to turn it off an on too. Anyway, I had to change the wiring to the switch, Normally you have 3 wires in your light switch, live and switched live and earth. But with the switch I bought you need a 4th (neutral wire), to enable it to work. I would check the installation instructions with which ever switch you are looking at.
Is it a ceiling light or bed lamp you want to turn on/off.
The cheapest way is to buy this for a ceiling light, a small job, but if you have no experience of electrics, you would need an electrician.

or go all the way and buy an Echo Dot, on offer at the moment.
