I was just wondering, what happens when you send a text message to a number, therefore sim card, that may be not be in use anymore, would the message still go through apparently successfully and you be charged for that message?

Or would your phone stop you, saying 'message not sent this time'? thanx a lot!!

My network, if i send a message to a phone that is no longer in use, sends me one back saying. 'message not delivered' nd it doesn't cost me!
Nor me

You can easily find out if a message was successfully delivered to a SIM card by switching on the "delivery report" function in message settings (Nokia) So you'll always know if a message got through.

All phones have the facility in general and it's free of charge. You can also set the duration you wish the message to wait to be delivered in the message settings and then receive a failed notice, should it not get delivered.

Another tip: when at a busy event, like a pop concert, send text messages to keep in touch, they're much more likely to get through as they are sent over a signalling channel which is less likely to become congested.
