Combi Boiler - Pressure Too High
5 Answers
I have a Worcester Celsia 24LE combi boiler. I keep the pressure to just over 1 bar (usually needs attention every two - three years). Yesterday I noticed that pressure had risen to 2,5 bar, later to 3 bar. What can I do to reduces pressure. If professional service is needed can I use the boiler before this is seen to?

If the pressure is slowly rising and not dropping off, I need to ask, have you recently topped the boiler up by using the filling loops?? If so, check that the taps are fully closed, as it's possible that there might be a trickle slowly filling your boiler up.
A quick and easy way to reduce the pressure in the boiler is to take a radiator key and drain water from one of your radiators, as if you're bleeding one of the radiators.

Thanks for your prompt reply Gizmonster. I had been out until 10:45 am.
I can't say how the pressure rises, I just occasionally notice that pressure is OK until last night when I saw it had risen to 2 1/2 bar. I haven't recently topped the boiler up by using the filling loops, though I tried this last night which may explain the rise to 3 bar.
I'll check the taps for trickle. Just now I bled the radiators taking out 6 litres water. No more comes from the rads but the pressure reading is 1.8 bar. (1 - 1.2 recommended I believe.)

Keep an eye on it until the pressure fully stabilises as I'm not sure you should have taken so much water out. There should still be water in the radiators or else they won't warm up.
You may find yourself having to top the system back up again, so just make sure you monitor the pressure closely for the time being.
