Washing Machine Experts In Ab Land?

Fairly old washing machine, the brand I do not know....front loading, soap box on the upper right, left-to-right - pre-wash section, main powder then the softener box.

The problem is that the powder or softener doesn't seem to be washing through, there is water coming through with the box out on the top upper left and going down the hole to the machine bottom front left.....

No issue with the drum - seems to be washing and spinning ok.

Anybody out there have any ideas and how to correct this?

Clogged up chute with old damp powder?

Normally you can withdraw the soap powder/conditioner tray for cleaning. Usually depress a tab on the upper inside edge, and withdraw tray.

as above - put machine on the hottest cycle with no washing in machine and nothing in dispenser drawer.

Or... use an all in one which you put in the drum not the drawer. I was amazed how much cleaner they get everything x

try putting in a washing machine cleaner aldis and lidls sell them .

thanks going for the hot wash and then if that fails mally's cleaning fluid.

interesting early on soap in the water appeared in the drum and that suggests clogging down there. also whacked in some boiling water using a funnel.

please be careful with boiling water DT x
(at least it's not flammable!)

Some brands of soap powder and some supermarkets own labels are dreadful for clogging up.

Try liquid tabs for a while if the anti-clogging suggestions work xx

got a funnel and now running a hot wash.

And I do have liquid tabs - which I prefer for my Waitrose bio-ones over the powder - which is Persil - that's used for the mater.

Since I got this washing machine about 3 years ago - have never ever used the dispenser. Throw the clothes in and then scoops of good washing powder. Washing really clean and so is dispenser so looks like a new machine.
