If I tick the box, does this mean I'm notifed every time sombody else replies? It doesn't seem to be happening in my case. Am I doing something wrong or have I missed something?

it means you get emailed when the question you subscribe to gets answers, only good for watching threads, instead of taking part
Hmmm, interesting!

When I joined AB, I assumed that subscribing to a thread would result in me receiving e-mail notifications when somebody sent a fresh answer to that thread but, like Wendy, it doesn't work for me. So either boobesque has got it wrong or, more likely (?), there's some reason why this feature doesn't work for Wnendy and me. (Could it be to do with our choice of browser? I use Firefox which, because it doesn't support ActiveX, doesn't allow me to format text i.e. I can't use italics or bold. Is there a similar problem with clicking on 'Subscribe to Question' when using Firefox?).

Chris
i have subscribed to questions in the past and always had email notification, i have no idea about the browser stuff though! sorry!

Can you not format text using standard html? bold italic etc?

Used to have to do that before there was the formatting bar.

The answer is: Evidently not. There must be some standard though, maybe [b] like bbscript or something.
I also use Firefox and although I have ticked the Subscribe to this thread box I have never received an email when someone has posted an answer.Very annoying. Also does anyone know how you award a star rating . I have seen this but have no idea how its done.
Got to say, i've subscribed to various threads, and never got a notification through email, I now don't bother.

It doesn't work for me either - I use Maxthon. Sometimes it decides to work and then I'll get an e-mail, but I think it's only AB hiccups as it usually don't work for me. How weird indeed.

valsuey - You can only award stars in threads you started yourself. If you click on one of you own questions there will be a "rate this answer" button above the "report this answer" button.

I have another variation.
I get email notification to threads I have started but not to ones I have joined in later.
