A vehicle belonging to "Door Doctor" has been parked continually on our road for almost 6 months now. It never moves,, it's just for advertising purposes. It is taxed. It is a residential road . Has anyone else experienced the same situation and been able to have it moved? The company also has another of the vans parked around Bingley purely for the same purpose. Is there a limit to the length of time a vehicle can be parked in the same place on a public highway. Any advice would be welcome please.

You could ask the police to intervene.I law the vehicle is causing an obstruction by virtue of the fact that no other vehicle can use that part of the road.

// It is taxed //

Is it insured?
How would crosspatch know this?
It says it’s taxed in the op - so it follows that it’s insured and has a valid MOT.

will tell you if the vehicle is insured for £4.50
As long as it’s taxed and mot’d and it’s not causing a danger I don’t think there is anything you can do
sherrardk - no, it doesn't. It tells you that it was on the day the tax was bought, nothing else.
Rockrose, see my post at 15.31. The vehicle is causing an obstruction contrary to the Road Traffic Act.
initially tax and maybe insurance here?

Rockrose - restrictions on your link. Same company, you notice but you have to be the owner, allowed to drive it etc. Or you can lie.
danny - yes but so is any other vehicle parked there. If you complain too much the police can stop ALL cars parking there.
And MOT apparently here hope it helps?

Ring Dr Door and tell them you've seen people tampering with the vehicle and they'd best move it.
bhg, the police consider the length of time that the vehicle has been parked.I spent many an hour waiting for owners to return to their vehicles which had been parked so as to cause an obstruction.
Apart from the legal aspect of the situation to me it's a pretty shoddy and inefficient method of advertising. If I needed any doors 'doctoring' I certainly would not consider that outfit.
Local street trading bye laws may well apply.
danny - I suspect many cars parked on a residential street might only be moved once a week, or so. If you start picking on one particular vehicle and defining it to be an obstruction I think you might meet some resistance. Admittedly the one in question hasn't been moved for several months but how long does it have to be before it (and all the other vehicles) are classed as an obstruction?
bhg, that would depend on the policy of the local police force.
Lynne thats a good "thinking outside the box" suggestion.
