Hi I've got 2 TOMTOM satnavs and in the last couple of weeks I am having trouble - getting a message saying: "Waiting for a valid GPS signal.."
Is this something that all Sat Nav owners are receiving or just a one-off with the TOMTOMs ?

Is it a fault that can be rectified or do I have to buy another one ??
Hope that someone out there can help with some info !!

Fingers crossed !!!

I find my tomtom never picks up a signal when I'm in the house and often takes a couple of minutes into the journey
Sounds like a one off for your particular sat navs.
Not in a lead lined bunker, are you ?
My old one was sometimes a bit slow picking up the GPS signals, and never did in the house. The new one is much quicker and also receives in the house. I think the new one is model no. 4APS.
Mine does this every time i turn it on. I select use last known location, start driving and after a minuet or two it picks itself up.

Tomtom - this is the one i have

Hi chaps
Thank's for your answers
My first problem showed up last saturday on a fishing trip (only 50 miles) and the SatNav worked OK on the way there but when I got in the car to drive home, the SatNav just came up with the GPS Signal problem.
I tried my other TOMTOM when I got home and it worked OK - I thought I'd give it a trial run the next day and when I got in the car this morning, the same GPS message showed up and I left it in the car hoping that it would go back to normal
Still the same message now !!
I wonder if there are any companies out there that can carry out repairs on TOMTOMs - that is if it the SATNAV that is faulty or maybe it is a faulty with the GPS system
Any help or advice would be very helpful !!
Thank !!
It sounds like it just struggled to find a connection, I find if you start moving, it really helps because it gives the gps a rough idea of direction and road
It also gives the gps to find a stronger wave of connection, rather than being in the same place.
Have you done any of the updates? There was a fix a while ago to help it pick up a signal quicker.
I have not. Mine still works lovely and it's my 2nd one (referbed)

The 1st one i got lasted me almost 6 year. Untill one day i broke the screen whilst it was trapped in my dashboard. Due to how comfortable i got with the tomtom (the version i had) I sought for a referbed one. I found one, £50 on amazon, came like brand new. I love it, it's fantastic although it's also very basic. It does the job. It's not a swiss army knife of satnavs but it's the reliable butter knife of satnavs that's been in yer drawers since ye was abeet 2.
"after a minuet or two".....so, a bit of a song AND a dance then?
Just switched mine on and it worked ok, picked the signal up straight away whilst in the house.
