Leaking Kettle

Does anyone know what I can safely use to seal my Breville JK27 Lightening Keep Warm Illuminated Jug Kettle 3000W . I have contacted Breville several times by email and have never had one reply. The plastic water panel on the side is leaking badly and my guarantee has ran out. Can someone help please. A kettle is not something I would try to patch up. You can pick up some cheap replacements. I wouldnt risk glueing/sealing it and it coming apart on someone boiling hot.

Another answer to put you off - I had three replacement Breville kettles in two years because they kept breaking. I wouldn't buy one again.

I had a problem like that with a different make of kettle. The first one was replaced under guarantee but the second went the same way. I unscrewed the base plate and found a plastic gasket wasn't properly secured....the problem was solved in seconds and the kettle has given years of faultless service since. Your problem may be similar.
That all being said, I agree that you may be as well just to replace it as they're so cheap nowadays.

I have ahd to replace one of these too. Luckily it was under guarantee. I would try contacting Breville as it is obviously a problem and potentially dangerous.

Thanks for all the advice, I have already tried contacting Breville, 5 times, and never got any reply from them. This is the worst kettle I have ever bought and with the poor customer care service from Breville. I will not be recommending or buying any of their products again. I just went and bought a new one. Heres hoping it lasts longer than Breville's

I will just point out that my previous post is incorrect - it was actually a Morphy Richards that leaked before and has started leaking again today!

Agreed that they aren't really worth patching up. However you can use silicone bath and shower sealant which is inert once dried and has done the job successfully for me. Unsrew, dry out. Apply liberally over both sides of gasket. Await 24 hours to dry and pull off any silicone that has squeezed out of the sides into the kettle bottom.

Many of these new-fangled kettles with screw bottoms seemed prone to the gasket degrading.
