What car is it?

Hi tweenyb, well, there are two types of air flow system so it might be -

1. When you open the bonnet the grill is part of the bonnet and opens with it and you can see were the air from the grill goes down into the car though a sort of large box shape. At the two ends of the box shape at the very bottom there is usually a hole about 20mm where the water drains out through plastic tubes attached to underneath the car, if you can find the holes check they are not blocked with leaves or other stuff and push something long and flexible (no blond type suggestions please) down the pipes to clear them out, you could also try putting a hose and washing them clear.

2. When you open the bonnet the grill stays in place, in this case you will have to look for screws or clips or whatever hold it in place and remove the grill and then you can see were the air from the grill goes down into the car though a sort of large box shape. At the two ends of the box shape at the very bottom there is usually a hole about 20mm where the water drains out through plastic tubes attached to underneath the car, if you can find the holes check they are not blocked with leaves or other stuff and push something long and flexible (??) down the pipes to clear them out, you could also try putting a hose and washing them clear.

I hope this is not too difficult to follow and you can sort this out OK

cool thanks for the help quapmoc will give it a go tomorrow - cheers

Firstly check the there is not a hole in the floor and the water is not soaking through the carpet. Secondly the glove box should slide out of the dash board by removing a few screws, this should help find the problem. you could also try a hose pipe to locate the problem area

Did you solve your water problem? if not does your car have a sunroof? get back.

Hi none of the suggestions worked really as it seems that wasnt where the leak is! myself and several friends have spent the past month or so trying to find where the water is actually getting in but no luck yet - its a pain as freezes inside and out of the windscreen! no sun roof so not that!

But THANK YOU every one who has posted a response v much appreciated!!!
