How Can I Find An Address?

I know the area the person lives but not the address Is there a way to find it?

I've tried 192 com but no luck.

Not sure which category this comes under

I've tried looking for people on the internet, without any luck. Mind you, I don't do social media. None of it, so that doesn't help. Also, what doesn't help, is the Data Protection law. I have used 192.com before for just a few pounds and found it very useful, but lately it doesn't seem to want to give anything away about personal information. Seems more like a business thing now. There are one or two people I still want to find, and despite all the helpful and well meaning answers on here, I have got no further. But I'm still trying!

Tracing agents are very good but do cost. I used one about 7 years ago and he successfully found someone for me, it cost £150. It was worth it to me as I really wanted to find the person, it might not be of value to you.

if you know the area just google map it, then go on street view to look for street name / number

Use the roads to navigate to the area you know it is. Then, use the orange man in the bottom right corner (next to the three different types of landscape image). Drag the orange man onto the street you wish to view. Use arrows to go up and down the street, and drag the screen to look in different directions.

Like most streets, they will have a street name and a sign to show this at the end of the street.

People can request to have their details removed from 192.com and similar sites and they have to comply very quickly - it is the law.
I had my details removed from every site that I could find and regularly check that I haven't popped up anywhere.

As mentioned already, try Facebook and see if you can contact them directly.
Salvation Army will trace family members .

Have you tried googling their name? I found an old schoolfriend by looking first at 192 and making a list of possibilities, then googling their name and the area they lived in. In this case the person was on a council committee and their name came up on a list of councillors and their email addresses. Took about 10 minutes altogether. May not help if they have a common name.

Thanks for replies. I know the name and property number, but not the street.
I have found a list of every street in the area but thats about it .

Matching a name to a street seems imposible .at the mo.

The majority of UK residential phone numbers are now ex-directory, so most people can't be found via the Phone Book.

Similarly, the majority of people who submit their electoral registration forms now tick the box which excludes their details from the 'open' register (which is the only one which 192.com has access to). So, despite all the claims of 192.com, the majority of people can't be found through that site.

The only complete listing of all registered voters is the 'full' electoral register. Only the police, security services and specialist agencies (such as credit reference agencies) have access to the full roll in digital format. The general public can only view the print version and only at the relevant council office. The listings are in alphabetical street order, not in name order. (So, if you only know the name, you have to go through the register street by street until you come across it).

You're usually required to make an appointment in order to view the full electoral register and you have to be supervised by a member of the council's staff when you do so, after first signing a declaration that you'll only use the information for permissible purposes. You're not allowed to make any copy of what's on the register, even in the form of handwritten notes.

Most libraries no longer have copies of the full electoral register because they can't guarantee that the requirements for supervision of people consulting it can be met. (That's also why it's no longer available at post offices, as it used to be).

You could try this and there are some numbers at the bottom of people who may be able to help. If you have the name of the house and the number, it should be easy for the Royal mail to help you.
