Ipads And I Phones

I have just read an article on the Mail on Line (and also on Yahoo News) (dated 28.10.19) that Apple have warned that older Iphones and certain other devices of theirs will be cut off from the internet if they don't update software. I've just spoken to someone, on the phone, at the Apple Support helpline, and they said that they haven't heard of this statement, so couldn't obviously offer any advice. We're going to take our mini ipads (both "2" versions we think) to our local apple store at the weekend, but wondered if anyone knows anything about this alleged issue. We get notifications on our ipad that an update is due, but there's been nothing to update recently. Something to do with "GPS functions", and if not updated by 3rd November 2019, will be locked out of features including App Store, web browsing and email. Does anyone know anything ... or is this just scaremongering or, at worst, a scam?

Many thanks for your prompt response and the link. We update our ipads as soon as there's notification of an update. Trip to our local Apple store at the weekend coming up! Many thanks for your help, cheers, chox.

Somewhat sad the company has managed to message devices but not updated the support staff or system.

I have an old iPhone 4g in my collection, and it just can’t cope with new programs, or the Apple company specifically makes the phone’s performance artificially lower! But as the media writes, Apple really reduces the performance of the iPhone with an old battery. Representatives of the company explained that smartphones have a function to reduce the clock frequency of the chips in order to prevent the device from shutting down involuntarily.
Now I have Android and for almost two years now and the phone is completely up to the task, and when I had iPhones, after a year I was thinking about buying a new one!

Chokkie, if you can't find any available updates in your settings, you already have the updates. No need to worry.
