Do I need to wash them beforehand?
I have 6 to 8 bags, mostly mine but some are my daughter's. They've been stored away in the spare room for 5 or more years, and were ...to the best of my knowledge...all clean when packed in carrier bags.

When I was volunteering at Barnardo's, all the clothes were steamed before being put on the rails in the shop. Any soiled or dirty clothes went straight in the rag bag.
