Has the virus been a good excuse for shops to insist on card payment only, its what a lot of them have always wanted, they don't as such have to stand there counting cash at the end of the day, or go to the bank to get change, the supermarkets must be delighted.
the supermarkets are always keen on offering cashbank as it means they give all their surplus cash to customers, so that might be enough for their purposes
one of our local non-essentials was insisting on cash only when they re-opened.
Pre-covid they accepted any method of payment so this has now started rumours of their viability for the future.
I was talking to someone the other day who had taken to items to the self checkout ( none food) they were told card only by the jobsworth standing watching, so they handed the goods to him and said I will leave them with you then, so the guy took the two items off him, in return, the someone I know said you've just handled the goods that I've touched so whats the difference in handling my cash, and left the shop. :0)
23.27 They are making most of the self service checkouts card only, why? they don't have to empty the cash out at night, or refill with change for the next day, so it all adds up to less work for them.
23.31, I myself don't have an obsession with cash, but some folk prefer to use it especially older people, but the right to use it is slowly being taken away, and I find that wrong, its being dictated too.
