Mp3 Player Issue

I've bought a mp3 player which I'm pleased with, except for one thing. I have two CDs with almost the same title, apart from Volume 1 & Volume 2. The musician is the same man. When I put both CDs on to my Mp3 player, the device bunches the two together. I get track 1 from the first CD then track 1 from the second CD and so on to the end of both. I want to separate the two CDs, does anyone know how I can do this?

(I had something similar but the musician was different. If I go to the 'artist' part of the menu, the CDs will be separated, but this doesn't work when the artist is the same.)

I had a similar issue when I ripped two CD's by the same artist and the album names were almost identical.
I ended up with one album with two track 1's; two track 2's .... etc.
I ripped my CDs to my laptop and from what I recall, simply right clicking on the album itself and renaming the album didn't work.
I had to open an album and right click on each individual track and select "properties". Then select "details" from the tab along the top and this will display all the details for that track. Click on "album" and rename it accordingly. You'll have to do this for all of the tracks within one of the albums, making sure that you give them all the same album name, but obviously different to the other album.

Thanks, but it didn't work. The only way I can change the track names is from 'file location'. I can't change the album name. The album name gets highlighted but I can't change it or delete it.

What device are the files/folders located on?
Can u upload them to a pc/laptop so u can edit them?

You need to edit the MP3 tags not the filenames.

What programme did you use to rip the cd? Itunes can do that. Audacity also does it.

I've ripped the CDs to my laptop using Windows Media Player.

gizmonster: I have done this as you instructed:

1. Bring up the album on windows media player
2, Right click on first track
3. Selected 'Properties'

I see no section called 'Details', only 'Content' and 'Media usage rights'

So I can't get any further. Maybe I have an out of date Windows Media Player?

You need to find where the files are located on your laptop, so don't open WMP, instead find where the album itself is on your laptop, then you should be able to edit the details from there.

Who's going to give up first?....I found where the album was located. Right clicked 'properties', found 'Details' changed the album name and every track to the same name, sent the album to WMP and all the tracks and the album name reverted back to the original. Stumped again!

You don't need to change the name of the album itself - that won't make any difference, as that is just the name of the folder where all the tracks are located.
Instead, open up the album and you'll see a list of all of the tracks. Right click on the first track and select "properties".
You'll then see a row of tabs with "general"; "security"; "details" and "previous versions".
Select "details".
Under "media" click on "album" and edit the title accordingly.
When you've done, make sure you click "apply" and "ok" otherwise it won't save your changes.
