The battery in the control panel is much lager in terms of capacity. Even if you take the battery out of the bell box you may well find as on my system the control panel battery will also power the siren so it may be a case of taken them both out if fitted. When the battery in my control panel lost its storage capacity it started triggering the siren even when the mains power was connected. The control panel just displayed a fault warning light. It could also be one of your sensors / tamper switches that is playing up i.e continually triggering the alarm. Your control panel may have zone indicators on it which indicate which sensor has triggered the alarm. This should givw you an idea as to what part of the system is causing the problem. If it is a tamper switch it may well just be that the bell box or control panel are not fitted tight up against the wall. Hope you get it sorted.
