This one will have you in hysterics.

I live in a HMO and their are four other people who live in separate bedrooms.

We are currently in tier two for the purposes of the post.

Anyhow, one of the gentleman is from Poland and purposely his wife has flown from Poland(who has never lived here in the uk or the house before) to stay for Christmas.

I spoke to the police about this and they said their is absolutely nothing they can do unless she steps outside of the house.

Considering if I go into a tier 3/4 area, which may I add are just less than a mile or so away, I will be arrested without a reasonable excuse. Does anyone else find this totally barbaric?

Further to add the landlord doesn’t care who’s in the house.

"I will be arrested". Don't think that's very likely.
how will anyone know if you step into tier 3/4.
No hysterics here...
Your situation is just another example of the chaos surrounding COVID.
unless you tell the police no one would know. If they did know then they might just have a quiet word in your ear. Arrest is most unlikely
What's an HMO?
house of multiple occupancy
House of multiple occupancy
Barbaric is a strange word to describe someone spending Christmas with their spouse. I guess you're not going to invite them round for drinks, so no huge risk. I think we are higher risk than the rest of the world at the moment anyway.
Run up to the border of the 3/4 Tier and put your toe over, that will make you feel better.

Thank you all. :-)
Surely the point is that the polish lady had traveled thru 2 airports, possibly landing in a tier 4 area and then traveled to the house. An hmo has separate bedrooms but some shared areas. I’m with you Chris I dont think it’s right, unless maybe she arrived before Friday and the new restrictions
i think he means the rules are barbaric,
sure she won't want to be cooped up for the duration.
Can you clarify what the significance is of your area being tier 2 please as maybe am missing your point. You wont be arrested for stepping into tier 3/4 but why would you take the risk of infection which is a more relavant concern surely??
Your concern seems nothing to do with tiers it's just the concern of someone from outside coming into your HMO which is understandable if your not sure if there infected or not
can't see a person coming all that way and staying indoors.
Just an exceuse to have a go at a foreign couple wanting to be together at Christmas.
There was nothing stopping you travelling to Poland until the last day or so (only "advice against")

I'd be interested to know what the police think they are going to do when she "steps out of the house"
She has every right to be here.
she has and its unlikely she will be stopped by the police.
