not sure if this is the right topic but what is an MP4 ? is it like an MP3 ? Anyone know roughly how much they cost ? cheers !

An MP4 player allows you to carry video around with you i the same way that you would carry music around with you on an MP3 player. They are relatively new I think, although you can get them at some places- check out amazon.co.uk/comet or other electrical retailers- I think they may be quite expensive though.

mp4 is like the next generation of mp3. both are types of computer files. mp4 includes video and audio sections; one audio type is called AAC, as used as default by the iPod.
