We used to go out to our local and queue to get in we’d all take something for the buffet table, everyone knew each other so it was like one big happy family , the juke box would be blasting out and we’d have a great party, Now? It’s pjs and dressing gown, a take away ( table set) a glass or two of wine , some recorded TV stuff and probably bed by 10-30 for me while Mr B watches Jools, if there’s any fireworks, I never hear them
What will you be doing?
going up daughters house where i hope to see in the new year through a haze of prosecco ,out on to the street at 12 to wish neighbours happy new year watch fireworks and listen to the ships in the dockyard hooting, then home to bed xx
Oh Mally! You brought back a childhood memory. I remember ships hooting in the docks from when I lived in London. I loved that.
I don't like New Year's Eve. I find it kind of sad so unless we're having a dinner party or going to a party we stay home and ignore the New Year. We used to have 'Not the New Year' dinner parties on New Year's Eve when clocks and watches were banned and none of us knew - or cared - whether the New Year had arrived or not.
A take out curry and a few drinks with four of our neighbours, nothing outrageous. We've been doing this for quite a few years now since we all decided we couldn't be bothered with being jostled about in a pub.
a few years ago walking back from daughters on new years eve (mr mally was on duty)i saw my first UFO'S they seemed to follow me down the road one light in front of two lights ,i was freaked out and hurried as fast as i could to get indoors as i didn't want to be zoomed up and probed by aliens next day in local people wanted to know what the strange lights were ...........chinese lanterns lol x
