Many times I have to use the remote to lower or increase the sound throughout a program which is annoying especially as I have a new Sony smart TV.
It might be my imagination by I recall 20 years ago I purchased a B&O tv (very expensive then!) and it had on it a setting which when activated automatically adjusted the sound all the time so if I set it correctly for my hearing - when the speech or music increased or decreased it was always completely audible on my setting - or am I imagining this?
on my bravia in sound settings there is an equalizer which i have treble or high frequency set to max, bass to low, then below that there's an advance auto volume set it to night is balances the sound out but needs a bit more volume your bravia might be different seems every model differs on the year it made !
my new ish TV samsung has several settings on the sound menu that lets you chose what type pf prog you are watching and either boosts the speech, or background. It's not automatic though
