If only Boris had retracted or apologised for what he had said

From the timing, it is absolutely clear that it is not a coincidence. Sadly (for the UK), Johnson does not seem to understand the seriousness of the situation, and his cavalier, "laugh it off" approach to politics. And his apologists only encourage his reckless approach to his job. The irony is ... He appears to be (or was, at one time), an admirer of Margaret...

ToraToraToraI don't see the connection, it was well known that Starmer headed the CPS for the Saville fiasco long before the PM said anything.

Of course you would not see it
You are blinder than the Tories who told Bozo he was wrong and the aide of 14 years who resigned over it
That said it is possible that the connections between Thatcher and Savile gave him the protection he needed for all those years
I have posted before the endless links between the two so no need to do so again
Even the blindest Tory devotee can find them via Google

I still don't see how Boris mentioning something that was already public knowledge is in some way relevant to net trolls having a go at Rodders.

He stirred the pot with his remarks
Sounds familiar no doubt ?
I mean
What sort of moron repeats right wing conspiracy theories in parliament against the advice of senior aides and advisors ?
Why does he even employ them ? He never listens to them ! Lol

And his apologists only encourage his reckless approach to his job.
The irony is ...
He appears to be (or was, at one time), an admirer of Margaret Thatcher. But Mrs Thatcher, a stickler for propriety, and upholding the rule of law, would certainly have insisted on his resignation.

Maybe being the LotO and being not that far from Parliament means that police were always on hand... wow, people *do* love a baseless conspiracy here don't they?
The simpler explanation is usually the correct one. Sure, the possibility of a connection between Starmer and Savile, however tenuous, has existed for a long time. But it's completely blinkered to dismiss the idea that the Prime Minister making that connection on live TV, in Parliament, gave it a legitimacy it didn't deserve and did not previously have. Of course they are linked. No, of course Johnson himself is not responsible for the mob, or for the death threats. But those among his supporters have two choices, really: accept that Johnson knew what he was doing, or accept that he spoke without thinking. Both are inexcusable. Both demand an apology.
It's too late, of course, to stop the mob acting the way they do; and, no doubt, they'd find another excuse anyhow. But that doesn't change the right course of action for everybody else: to denounce, and to think seriously carefully in future before saying anything so reckless.

TTT,
// it was well known that Starmer headed the CPS for the Saville fiasco long before the PM said anything. //
It was also well known that that conspiracy theory had been debunked ages ago. It wasn’t true. It was a lie. Total nonsense.
Yet you fanboys cannot believe you hero is a wrong.
Sad. Very sad.

TTT,
The CPS made the call not to prosecute Saville because none of his accusers where prepared to go to court. So no prosecution would have been successful. Starmer (as DPP) got their report, and he too agreed a prosecution would be unsuccessful.
Johnson defends proven lies in an attempt to cling on to power. What is your excuse for perpetuating blatant untruths ?

Of course it suits Captain Hindsights agenda to claim this. Just as it is highly possible the recent mobbing could have been a set up - wouldn't put anything past that lot. Made me wonder how all those police were ready to surround him and escort him to a waiting police car.

Oh dear
Maybe something to do with the history of attacks on MPs of late
And not forgetting the PC who was stabbed to death in the Houses of Parliament not very long ago ?
There is always an option for Best Answer on threads
Lucky for some that there is no facility for worst
If you have a conspiracy theory for police being in attendance and acting so quickly in this instance what is your theory for them not saying a word during lockdown functions at Downing St where police are present 24/7 ?

"what is your theory for them not saying a word during lockdown functions at Downing St where police are present 24/7 ?" - the answer is obvious, they are outside the building where the people involved were already inside working - there wasn't a stream of taxis and limos lining up outside taking their occupants to an organised party. How would they know whether anything was going on or not?

The rest of the world doesn't go to bed when the sun goes down here, you know. Others are just beginning their day and if people in this country are working with them, they work - and that doesn't apply solely to government. It applies in the commercial world too.
It's noteworthy that similar political mileage wasn't attempted when Jacob Rees-Mogg and his children were subjected to the mob.
