Does anyone have any experience of Pure Cremations? Have they been part of the CMA investigations into the funeral sector? and would you recommend them?

On the face of it, it looks ideal, have you heard otherwise?

Isn't that the same as direct cremation that many funeral directors offer nowadays? I`d be inclined to just put a bit of money away myself if I needed to save for that rather than giving it to a company. Just my opinion though.

Yes, sj, that’s the same thing and what we’re contemplating doing. We don’t want a funeral plan now, but we do both want a direct (or pure as it’s sometimes called) cremation.

Sorry granny, I didn’t answer you. I think what we’ve been looking at is different to what you’ve been contemplating doing, or your brother in law is.
We’re not wanting an advance funeral plan, we just want as simple and cheap a way of getting rid of our remains as possible.

Always check the prices offered by your local funeral director, they have been doing direct to crem funerals for many years and will use the nearest crematorium.

In fact my local funeral director charges £1300 for a traditional funeral, with the cheapest coffin, hearse and service early morning or late afternoon (our local crem is cheaper off peak).

Yes, I used Pure Cremation (the company with that name) three years ago. There was no "funeral plan" involved, just a one-off payment. They were excellent...couldn't have been better, in fact. I will be using them again when necessary...but hopefully not for a long while!
